Hidden Library...

I have been looking at ways I can create a little 'hidden' library in my home. At the moment most of my books are stored in piles around the house. Its amazing what you can create with a little unused space and inspiration...

Kimberly Seldon created a perfect little library space beside the fireplace.

This little 'hidden' library makes perfect use of this space...

This hallway library makes great use of the space with the window seats providing a  place to stop.

This library sits beautifully in the walk through hall and the Swedish inspired style painted floors is one of my favourites...

Making great use of  space around the doorway for this charming built-in  library.

A casual living room library & I love how they use this to display a piece of art to break up the wall of books.

The custom built shelves and seat would be perfect in a casual family area

I adore the books which are arranged by colour. Love the linen chair & ottoman....

I love the balance of this more formal option either side of the fireplace.
One day I dream of having a library...

Petite Tree's...

Sorry for the lack of posts the past week. This time of year is my busiest time at work and so I have not had much spare for blogging! I certainly cannot wait for a break at Christmas....not long now!

Today I am loving these adorable little trees via Martha Stewart.  One of these would be perfect if you do not have space for a full size one.

Oliveaux Today...

I was very excited to open this months Australian Women's Weekly and see Michael Devine's Gramercy fabric featured. Many of you may have seen Aerin Lauders beautiful Long Island home before on other blog's, however,  it is such a treat to see it in our Australian press. I love the Gramercy print which is used on her bedroom walls and valance. Michael will be releasing his new collection of fabrics in January at the prestigious Maison Objet Paris - I cannot wait to see the collection!!

Desk Love...

I saw this beautiful secretary desk over at Pink Wallpaper. It originates as a flea market find and was given a coat of paint....so cute! I love the style & that it does not take up much room which would be a fabulous solution in my house where I do not have space for a designated study.

One month 'till Christmas....

Today it is exactly one month until Christmas so I could not resist slipping in a little Christmas post. I am trying to cram in as much work as possible before our school year ends and the summer holidays start in two weeks time.  I loved this room which features in the December Homes and Garden magazine - with the linen couch and the beautiful tree.

Affare to Remember...

If I were in Sydney this weekend I would definitely head off to the 'Good Food Affare' which is running over  3 days. It promises to be presented in the charming style of Europe's great markets. I would take a basket along and fill it with fresh fruit, cheese and flowers...buy olives, oils and jams...followed by afternoon tea at the Skye Gyngell's cafe, a replica of her acclaimed cafe in Surrey, England. Don't you think it looks like the most gorgeous food event ever?

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

Danish Style

I am loving this classic 1920'c home which features in Home & Gardens Magazine and
is located just outside Amsterdam.  Stunning front doors & windows with beautiful box clipped hedges and pots.

It belongs to Henk & Saskia Teunissen who own Riviera Maison, their home reflects their style which we are all familiar with in their products, timeless & comfortable.

They have cleverly hidden the TV behind doors above the fireplace.

Loving the kitchen and the black bench tops which was built by a local carpenter &  the white painted floor boards, it is beautifully styled in a way you would expect...

Love the dining area in the Kitchen. The gorgeous lights & the black cabinet.

A dream girls bedroom....

Could imagine sitting out here & relaxing with friends on the weekend....

Oliveaux Today...

It's starting to look a lot like Christmas!

On the weekend I was at one of my girl friends and she had just put up her Christmas tree. It was absolutely stunning. She lives in a Queenslander with lovely high ceilings and her 9 foot tree looks beautiful in the living room.  From the front of the house you get a glimpse of their tree.

Paris Apartments

{myra hoefer}

While searching for accommodation for my trip next year to Paris I came across these lovely apartments which you can rent. They are absolutely divine! There are so many beautiful images that I spent ages looking at each of them...such a treat! I love looking at the courtyards & interiors behind the beautiful  doors & exteriors of Paris.  So I have to share with you some of the images.  If you fancy a little virtual escape or perhaps you are taking a trip to Paris and do not wish to stay in a hotel...have a look at these

Garden Gate

I get just as excited about the external features of a home as much as the internal and this is such a pretty gate! Would be a lovely addition to the outside of my house. After spending most of the year rennovating the inside of my home I am starting to think of the outside - which completely needs re-doing

Beautiful Rooms

This home is featured in one of my old editions of House Beautiful. I love the antique pieces used throughout this home. (minus the taxidermy - not for me)

I adore the light fitting and pink curtains in this room. Beautiful colours for a girls room.
